It takes the point of view of a soldier enlisting into the army from Indiana and follows the progress and movements of the troops throughout the war. I had ancestors who fought and my own family history, so the book gave me an better understanding than the few stories passe|About the Author|Bruce Jones is a native of Indiana and a graduate of Indiana State University. A lifelong Civil War buff he was motivated to write this book to honor his five relatives that served in the 42nd Indiana Infantry during the Civil War.

This book is to honor the sacrifices and courage shown by the 42nd Indiana Infantry in their military campaigns during the Civil War from their organization in 1861, until final victory in April 1865.
