For instance, the book is specifically about the specialized mountain troops,but it does not give detailed information or pics about the specialized equipment they used.The mountaintroops had a special version of the mauser k98k,theirs was called the G 33/40 and it had many c|About the Author|Ian Baxter has produced a fine selection of highly illustrated books in the Images of War Series mainly covering Axis Forces in WW2. He is a dedicated collector of rare images and an expert in his field. He lives near Chelmsford, Essex.

These mountain men were trained to ski, climb and endure long marches, survive appalling conditions and were given a role as crack shock troops. Yet many of the campaigns in which the Gebirgsjager fought were on level ground where they had little opportunity to demonstrate their unique skills. Instead, they were invariably employed as assault infantry...
